On the last April 21, the president of Mascarenhas Barbosa Roscoe S/A Construções, Luiz Fernando Pires, received the Honor Medal of Inconfidence, in Ouro Preto / MG, it´s given for who, in an exceptional manner, have contributed to the projection and for the greatness of Minas Gerais.

The businessman Eike Batista was the speaker, on Abril 19, in another edition of Conexão Empresarial Project, promoted by Viver Brasil Magazine, sponsored by Usiminas and support by Mascarenhas Barbosa Roscoe S/A Construções and Embratel.

During the dinner, attended by select public of politicians, businessmen and public figures, Eike Batista told some secrets of his success, his experiences in Brazil and overseas, showed a video about his ventures of the holding EBX and answered questions from guests.

On International Women’s Day, March 08, MBR made a tribute for all women employees of the office and the construction sites.

At the sites, all of them received a beautiful rose with a message for this special date. At the office, they were blessed with a delicious breakfast and lunch, and also received t-shirts that the topic was Construction Women.

On January 30, completed another stage in Arcos – Clinker Factory – CSN.

At that time, ended the sliding walls of Clinker Silo, a great work that was performed in only fifteen days.

The Silo has the following dimensions: height 45,50 m and 22,50 m in diameter. For it, was spend 1.360 m³ of concrete.

On september 30, happened in Belo Horizonte / MG, the fourth edition of Wolrd’s Citizens Award, organized by the newspaper Hoje em Dia, through the 6th National Meeting of the Third Sector.

On this occasion, the winners were awarded and all registered participants were honored for their efforts to the sustainable development and well being of society. MBR, through the Viva Project, received a Honorable Mention Certificate in the category Corporate Social Responsibility.

This honor is an indication that MBR is on the development for a fair society.

The FDL – Fundação Dom Cabral , in partnership with Diário do Comércio, made the second edition of José Costa Award, in Belo Horizonte.

The purpose of the award is to honor companies and executives that contribute to the development of Minas Gerais, value the enterprising spirit, focused on a better and sustainable world.

In the Construction category, competing with large companies, MBR was the awarded company.

Viver Brazil Magazine, september edition, through the company’s partners, made a very special tribute to MBR. There are 34 pages of stories, facts and interviews celebrating 75 years of the company.

MBR received on Wednesday, June 18th, the certificate of the second company that hired the most at Sine in Ouro Preto. Such milestone is due to MBR executing construction works to Samarco between November 2005 and August 2007, referent to the new Germanium Concentration Plant – Third Pelletizaton Plant Project.

Sine, in the recognition document, declared that MBR contributed towards the professional qualification of the worker, reduction of social problems of the municipality and improvement of the human development index (HDI).

Viviane Dias, responsible for MBR’s HR Department, was the one who received the certificate. The Mayor of Ouro Preto – Ângelo Oswaldo, a representative of the Municipal Social Assistance Office – Maria Regina Braga, Ouro Preto Sine Center coordinator – Guilherme de Jesus, and the President of the Municipal Employment Commission – Antônio Carlos de Oliveira were present.

On June 18th, 2008, at MBR’s Construction Work at Gerdau Açominas, in Ouro Branco, there was the celebration for the milestone of reaching 3,000,000 man hour worked without accidents with time off work, which is equivalent to 2 years.

In order to celebrate such feat, a ceremony was held in which some professionals – from MBR, Gerdau and Consultants – gave speeches about how important that day was and they gave out some prizes among the collaborators who contributed for such moment.

During the ceremony, much as said about the importance of a record like that. Both MBR professionals and Gerdau’s guests talked about the need to work with safety, preserving the health of each employee. Above any statistic, gift or honor, the grand prize celebrated that day was everyone’s life and health protection, which provides for consistent and successful projects.

We congratulate all professionals who contributed towards this so important goal. Workplace Health and Safety Quality are MBR’s Objective, which is chased after eagerly so that the work may be productive, healthy and sustainable.

A new training program for Officers and Foremen is being launched. Its objective is to invest on the employee and give him/her incentive to always improve. Just as the company has its continuous improvement program as one of its values, it believes that seeking improvements should be everyone’s objective.

With the Building Foremen and Building Workers programs the professionals will have a chance to learn a new craft and, upon obtaining the average grade provided in the regulation, they will get a promotion along with all the benefits that comes with it. And the supervisor responsible for the employee training and accompaniment will also get a bonus.
